February 2025 hunting and trapping opportunities


Small game hunting

  • Cottontail rabbit and snowshoe hare: open through March 31.
  • Fox and gray squirrel (black phase included): open through March 31.

Waterfowl hunting

Goose hunting

  • South Zone: open Feb. 1-10.
  • Allegan County Goose Management Unit: open through Feb. 15.

Furbearer hunting and trapping

Hunting seasons

  • Coyote: open through April 15.
  • Fox (gray and red): open through March 1.
  • Raccoon: open through March 31.
  • Opossum, skunk and weasel: year-round.

  • Coyote and fox (gray and red): open through March 1.
  • Raccoon: open through March 31.
  • Opossum, skunk and weasel: year-round.
  • Badger, beaver, bobcat, muskrat, mink and otter opportunities are available for some areas. See pages 5-6 in the Furbearer Harvest Regulations Summary for open units and season dates.
