We're Back! And We Have Work To Do...
|
The SD DC Metro Area team is back, and is planning a very full and active year! We hope you will continue to be a part of it and will recommit to building Democratic power in our states. That’s how we’ll continue to protect our democracy, rights, and communities.
We again will be supporting Sister District's State Bridges program (more on that below), and are planning another bridge walk. We also are planning more volunteer appreciation activities and, of course(!), will have new candidates to support in races where we will need your help more than ever.
This work takes all of us. Right now, you have the power to take action by helping us lay the groundwork to elect Democrats at the state level who will push back on Trump’s dangerous agenda.
We have much planned for 2025, so WATCH THIS SPACE for new developments!

Sister District thanks all of YOU for digging deep and finding your amazing energy reserves to support our two special-election candidates in Virginia in January. Thanks to you, both candidates won, ensuring that the House of Delegates and the State Senate remain blue, and positioning Virginia as a stronghold for progress and a xxxxxx against GOP Governor Glenn Youngkin’s regressive policies
Here are a few of the jaw-dropping 😮 stats for the special election:

SISTER DISTRICT IMPACT REPORT
|
Sister District has released our 2024 Impact Report!
While the presidential outcome was not what any of us had hoped for, our wins in the states underscore the power of grassroots organizing and the enduring impact of our efforts. In 2016, Democrats held majorities in just 29 state legislative chambers. Now, they control nearly 40.
Because of this grassroots community, we were able to endorse more candidates last year than ever before. Together, we won 31 races — an impressive feat in today’s polarized landscape, breaking the GOP supermajorities in the NC House and WI Senate. We also maintained control of the PA House and MN Senate.
Here are a few highlights from last year:
- Endorsed 53 candidates in nine states and partnered with eight State Bridges Partners
- Supported a diversity of candidates, 83% of whom were women or nonbinary, 43% were people of color, and 28% were first-time candidates for state legislative office
- Made 62% of calls and raised 13% of total contributions for our top-targeted candidates
- Invested $2M+ to elect state lawmakers and boost our local organizing partners
- Volunteers across the country organized 930+ virtual and in-person events for candidates
- Conducted extensive research and deployed our data-backed messages to voters via digital and mail to combat downballot roll-off
