USAID staffers told to stay out of Washington headquarters after Musk said Trump agreed to close the 10,000-strong agency
Staffers of the US Agency for International Development were instructed to stay out of the agency’s Washington headquarters on Monday, according to a notice distributed to them, after far-right ketamine popper Elon Musk announced Donald Trump had agreed with him to shutter the agency. USAID employs more than 10,000 people and is one of the world's largest official aid agencies with an annual budget of more than $50 billion, with active missions in more than 80 countries. In operation for more than six decades, USAID has provided critical disaster relief, poverty relief, and socioeconomic development in low-income countries. On Sunday, Musk tweeted: "USAID is a criminal organization. Time for it to die." In addition to being devastating to countless people around the world and will lead to needless death, Elon Musk has absolutely no authority to do this. He has not been elected to any position; he has not been confirmed by the Senate; he isn't even an official government employee. The "DOGE" agency does not exist. He CANNOT do this, and it is a major constitutional crisis if Congress allows him to get away with this naked, authoritarian power grab.

CDC orders its scientists to withdraw new papers to hunt out "forbidden terms"
The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ordered government scientists to withdraw or pause the publication of ALL papers set to appear in medical or scientific journals so the Trump administration can review the material for "forbidden terms" — such as "gender," "LGBT," "transgender," "transsexual," or "pregnant person" — according to a shocking new report. It sounds fascistic and downright Orwellian because it is.

Sen. Chuck Schumer's plan for Democratic comeback is to wait for Trump to "screw up"
Heckuva plan there, Chuck. Just the sort of leadership and initiative we've been waiting for as fascist billionaires ransack the federal government in front of our very eyes.

Trump warns "we're gonna take" Panama Canal back or "something very powerful is going to happen"
We're just two weeks into the wrecking ball that is Donald Trump's second presidency and on the foreign policy front we've already managed to start a global trade war, piss off both our North American neighbors, and alienate more or less the rest of the western world with the MAGA cult leader's sophomoric taunts. Speaking to reporters on the tarmac at Joint Andrews Airbase, the wannabe dictator appeared to threaten yet another ally with military force, vowing that "something very powerful is going to happen" if Panama doesn't simply give control of the Panama Canal to the United States. It's gonna be a very long four years, folks.

Trump renews calls for Canada to become 51st state as Trudeau unleashes retaliatory tariffs
Canada predictably responded to Donald Trump's incredibly stupid tariffs with what outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau described as "far-reaching," 25% retaliatory tariffs on imported US goods, starting tomorrow. Trump claimed on Sunday that the US pays billions to "subsidize" Canada and argued that "without this massive subsidy, Canada ceases to exist as a viable Country," before once again calling for the sovereign nation of 40 million people to become "our Cherished 51st state."

Trump says he will cut off funding to South Africa over land "confiscations"
The wannabe dictator has claimed South Africa is "confiscating" land and "treating certain classes of people very badly," announcing he is cutting off all future funding to the country pending an investigation. Trump's intervention — which clearly has Elon Musk's fingerprints all over it — into one of South Africa’s most divisive issues was rebutted by the country’s government and criticized by groups across its political spectrum. Land ownership in South Africa remains highly unequal, a legacy of white minority rule that governments have struggled to address since the first multi-racial elections in 1994. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa rebuffed Trump's provocations, stating, "The recently adopted Expropriation Act is not a confiscation instrument, but a constitutionally mandated legal process that ensures public access to land in an equitable and just manner as guided by the constitution. South Africa, like the United States of America and other countries, has always had expropriation laws that balance the need for public usage of land and the protection of rights of property owners."
Emails show how NFL’s Saints and NBA’s Pelicans helped New Orleans church spin abuse scandal
High-level executives with the NFL's New Orleans Saints football team and the NBA's Pelicans basketball team had a deeper role than previously known in connection with a list of priests and deacons faced with credible allegations of child molestation while the clergymen worked with their city’s Roman Catholic archdiocese, The Guardian and WWL TV have revealed. According to highly sensitive emails that were obtained by the outlets, one top executive even described a conversation with the New Orleans district attorney at the time that allowed them to remove clergy names from the list — though the clubs deny their official participated in that discussion, and the prosecutor back then vehemently denies he would ever have weighed in on the list’s content. The emails call into question prior and newly issued statements by New Orleans’ two major professional sports franchises as they denied being overly entwined in the archdiocese’s most damning affairs — while fighting to keep their communications with the church out of public view.
National Transportation Safety Board ditches email updates for the press in favor of Elon Musk's X
The NTSB defended its move to ditch email updates for the press in favor of Elon Musk’s nüTwitter as its primary platform for informing the media about major incidents. Reporters covering aviation incidents like those in Washington, DC, and Philadelphia will apparently now rely on @NTSB_Newsroom for news conferences and investigative details. The reliance on a single social media platform conveniently owned by Trump sugar daddy Elon Musk understandably raised questions about transparency, but the agency defended the move, stating that it was meant to "better manage the volume of" inquiries. The decision lands amid a broader shake-up in government media access. The Pentagon, as NBC News reported, is evicting mainstream news organizations like The New York Times, NPR, and Politico from dedicated workstations in favor of a new “annual media rotation program” featuring right-leaning outlets like Breitbart, the New York Post, and One America News Network.
