Washington Post:
“Trump’s former anti-discrimination official ‘may have abused his authority,’ inspector general’s report finds”

Tell HUD Secretary Ben Carson to FIRE ERIC BLANKENSTEIN >> [link removed]

Friend -- the saga of Eric Blankenstein keeps getting more outrageous.

Blankenstein, the former head of the fair lending division at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, came under fire last year when the Washington Post revealed his racist blog posts. Yet former CFPB Director Mick Mulvaney and current Director Kathy Kraninger kept him in his position for months.

For some reason, Mulvaney and Kraninger didn’t see a problem with keeping this guy in charge of the CFPB’s anti-discrimination efforts -- despite his beliefs that using the N-word isn’t racist and that most hate crimes are a hoax!

Earlier this summer, Blankenstein left the CFPB and started working for the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) -- because, apparently, blatant racism doesn’t get you fired in this administration and instead just leads to more opportunities.

This month, the Washington Post revealed two new disturbing facts:

Then-CFPB Director Mulvaney reacted to the original Post report about Blankenstein’s racist writings by giving him a “high-five.” Seriously. Mulvaney, now Trump’s Chief of Staff, didn’t fire Blankenstein or even reprimand him. He celebrated what Blankenstein wrote.

An Inspector General found that Blankenstein “may have abused his authority” and “misused his position for private gain” by asking an African American subordinate employee to write a statement of support for him to give to the Washington Post.

It was bad enough that the CFPB official responsible for preventing discrimination in lending used to spread hate online -- but asking an African American subordinate to write a glowing statement to keep the heat off his back is absolutely reprehensible. The subordinate told investigators, “I didn’t feel I could say no because I needed to do that in order to preserve my program.”

Will you sign our petition telling HUD Secretary Ben Carson to FIRE ERIC BLANKENSTEIN? You can also add a comment telling him why keeping a racist, power-abusing Trump lackey on payroll is straight-up WRONG.
