John, a recent report from the Arizona Secretary of State's office shows some very encouraging data for Democratic prospects in Maricopa County (which contains all of the 6th Congressional District). "Democratic registered voters in the state’s most populous county have grown by nearly 26,000 since the start of the year among active voters, according to the report, while Republican registered active voters have decreased by just under 5,000 people."
These are the trends we want to see as we work to elect Hiral in an emerging battleground district. But we're going to need to work hard to make sure we engage new voters and turn them out in November -- this is a seat Republicans won easily for years, and they won't give it up without a fight. Voters are increasingly fed up with Republicans like David Schweikert who've spent years trying to roll back healthcare, suggesting cuts to Social Security and Medicare, and standing in the way of properly funding our public schools. So it's no surprise that they're moving away from the GOP in Maricopa County.
