Dear Neighbor,
Like many of you, I was horrified last week to learn of the deadliest American aviation accident in a generation. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those whose lives were lost in this tragedy. Please be assured that there will be a thorough investigation to determine what went wrong and how we can strengthen safety measures to better protect passengers.
I was in south Florida for much of last week working with President Trump and other members of our Republican Conference to strategize the best path forward for quickly delivering on the promises made to all Americans. We are already working to restore an America-First agenda and to reverse the harm to our economy and country that was caused during the last four years. It was a productive session that will yield positive results. Please continue reading for a quick overview of the work I am doing on your behalf.
Protecting our Nation: It is great to have a President at the helm who cares about making our country safe by securing our border. One of his first actions was to send an additional 1500 troops to protect our southern border.
Also, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has finally been given the green light to capture dangerous criminals who entered our country illegally. In one single day last week, ICE captured 956 illegal migrants, some of whom were child sex offenders, violent gang members, and convicted murderers. This is another example of promises kept. We will continue to get dangerous illegal migrants off our streets.
Fighting for our Nation’s Heroes: I’m encouraged to see that the incoming VA Secretary shares my belief that Veterans deserve access to quality medical options both within the VA and as part of the Community Care program. Too many of our nation’s heroes have faced unnecessary barriers in accessing treatment, which must stop.
Also, I have refiled the Retired Pay Restoration Act for this Congress. The brave men and women who return from serving our country should be able to receive the benefits promised to them. Military retirement pay and service-connected disability compensation are two completely different benefits. One does not diminish the merits of the other. I am committed to rectifying this injustice for all Veterans.
Unleashing American Energy Dominance While Protecting Florida’s Coast: We can restore energy independence while protecting Florida’s sensitive natural resources. Read this article to learn more about my thoughts on this important subject.
Raising Awareness: Each year, approximately 1 in 10 Americans become victims of identity theft. Take a moment to learn the warning signs so you can protect yourself.

Celebrating Parental Choice: Last week we recognized National School Choice Week. It is great for parents and students to have the option to choose which educational environment is the right fit for their family. Whether they choose a traditional public, magnet, charter, private, online or brick and mortar school, I want all children to have access to a high quality, safe learning environment that meets their needs. I am grateful to all the wonderful educators who make that happen. An investment in education is a sound investment in the future of our society.
Community Connection
I am fortunate to have a team of dedicated staff who regularly attend events throughout our community, especially when I am required to be in Washington, DC. Through their collective efforts, I am better able to stay connected to the issues that matter most to my constituents. As part of my commitment to developing a better understanding of the issues facing constituents in Citrus, Hernando and Pasco counties, members of my team attended several events last week. Here are a few highlights.
My team attended this year's annual AmSkills Dinner to highlight the progress being made in providing quality apprenticeship opportunities in manufacturing.
My team also visited with Pastor Kenny and his wife, Chris, of Lifestyle Church in Lacoochee. They are collecting and distributing supplies to those in our community who still have water in their unlivable homes.
Additionally, my staff spoke to the Leadership Hernando Class of 2025 about the work our office does on a daily basis and the role we play in helping to meet the needs of our community.
Constituent Corner
My team recently received this note after helping a local Veteran who was having difficulty getting a VA specialty care appointment.
This is just one example of the work we do each day. Constituent services are a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. We are here to serve you! |
