Another threat facing monarch butterflies, a fake energy

ACTION SPOTLIGHT

Tell Congress to Oppose Trump’s First
Wave of Attacks on Our Environment

Trump’s first days back in office
included a dizzying slew of anti-environmental executive orders —
announcing a so-called “energy emergency,” encouraging drilling
off our coasts and in the Arctic Refuge, withdrawing from the
Paris Climate Agreement, and many more. These orders are a direct
assault on our environment, health, and clean energy jobs.

But here’s what you should know: Some
of these orders can be much more easily implemented by the
president than others, and many direct federal regulators to take
actions that may be illegal. Others will require action from
Congress to make them a reality. And that’s where we need your
voice.

Your members of Congress need to hear
from YOU. Tell them to stand strong against Trump’s pro-polluter
executive orders! ( [link removed] )

CAMPAIGN UPDATE

A Toxic Threat Facing Monarchs Now – And
a New Plan to Save Them

Monarch butterflies have long been
threatened by habitat loss, climate change, and pesticides like
glyphosate. One more to add to the list: toxic “neonic”
pesticides — the same culprit responsible for the alarming
decline of bees and other pollinators.

When the EPA allowed widespread use of glyphosate, commonly known
as Roundup, NRDC and our partner organizations sued the EPA — and
a federal court ordered the agency to re-assess the ecological
and health harms of the herbicide.

In its final weeks, the Biden
administration’s U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service proposed critical
protections for monarchs and their habitat under the Endangered
Species Act. The public comment period is still open — but only
until March 12.

Help show the Trump administration that
there’s massive, nationwide support to protect monarchs and other
pollinators — and we won’t stand by and watch these vital
creatures be driven to extinction. Submit your comment now. ( [link removed] )

DEEP DIVE

We’re Not in an Energy Emergency — We’re
in a Climate Emergency

President Trump declared a nationwide
“energy emergency” on his first day in office, despite all
evidence to the contrary: the U.S. is the world’s leading
producer and exporter of oil and gas. But in case that wasn’t
enough, Trump also signed executive orders to open the Arctic
National Wildlife Refuge to drilling and roll back historic clean
energy investments. Trump’s right about one thing: this is an
emergency — a climate emergency. Read more > ( [link removed] )
