Dear friends,

Trump just suggested that every Palestinian should be expelled from Gaza, to ‘clean’ it up.

It’s the definition of ethnic cleansing. And Israel’s finance minister has promised to have a plan ready.
Welcome to Gaza’s ceasefire. The bombs may have stopped falling, but Palestinians are anything but safe. And they never will be, so long as they live under the shadow of occupation.
Sooner or later, war will come again. The only way to avoid more bloodshed is a free, independent Palestine.

That might feel like a pipe dream --but more than 140 countries have already recognised Palestine as a state.

Now others are considering whether to follow --including major players like the UK, France and Japan. Avaaz just launched the world's largest petition for the recognition of Palestine. Now we have a precious opportunity to make it count!
If we raise enough now, we can make Palestinian statehood a major priority this year, hiring campaigners in key countries, running major actions, and working on the ground in Palestine to make this the last war Gaza ever has to face.

We've all seen the heartbreaking images of Gazans flooding back to their ruined homes. The future of millions is on the line.We have an incredible chance to shape it for the better -- but we need funds to do it. Donate what you can now:

Lasting peace might feel impossible right now.

But the whole world can see the status quo is not sustainable, and without freedom, Palestinians will be left at the mercy of those who want to wipe them from the map. It will make more violence inevitable.
Getting the UK, France and Japan on board for independence would be a big step towards that peace. They are all members of the powerful G7, and their support would be powerful protection against Trump’s plan to cleanse Gaza.

Momentum is building. The war in Gaza has underlined the need for change, and across Palestine, community leaders funded by Avaaz are gathering input from thousands of people to produce a People’s Charter for Palestine - a unifying vision for the future. If we raise enough, we could:
Double our Palestine team and push key countries to recognise Palestine as a State -- showing up in force at the UN Conference on Palestine in June; Power a growing liberation movement in Palestine, gathering input from tens of thousands of people to create a People’s Charter for a Free Palestine; Support Palestinian human rights organisations that are lifelines for community organising but are struggling to stay afloat; and Supercharge global efforts to suspend arms deals with Israel, and more. Your solidarity has already moved mountains . It has sent trucks of lifesaving aid to Gaza, supported citizen journalists, and funded human rights workers documenting war crimes -- thank you.
But the dream of a free Palestine is in extreme danger – that’s why our work is so critical. Please donate what you can now:

Time after time, the Avaaz community has stood up for peace, justice and the dignity of everyone living in the Middle East. We campaigned for over a year for a ceasefire, the return of hostages, and accountability for the horrors inflicted on Gaza. Now we must stop this ever happening again -- please consider giving today.

With heartbreak, hope and determination,
Bert, Kaitlin, Nell, Mike, Marie and the whole team at Avaaz
