Hello, True Texans!
It's time to start a new month of meetings all across the state, but heads up! This month we have a LOT of changes for our various satellites... different locations, days, or even speakers. Please make sure to check our calendar before heading out the door!
And if you need to catch up with me, Fran, or Susan, we'll be around! Here are our schedules:
FEB 4: Julie's on the bus trip from Dallas/Waco, and we'll meet Fran at the Capitol. Susan is at the Denton coffee meetup.
FEB 10: Julie's at the Tarrant meeting while Fran is at the Hill Country meeting
FEB 11: Fran will lead True Texan activists at the Captiol while Susan attends the Brazos Valley pre-meeting dinner and then the meeting.
FEB 12: Julie and Fred will see you at the Valentine's Dance in Burleson for free line dance lessons and a date night. Great chance to prep for Texas Tough!
FEB 13: Julie will be at the Collin County meeting while Fran is speaking at the Dallas County meeting, and Susan is at the Bexar County meeting
FEB 18: Julie will start off at the Rockwall meeting but will sneak out early to catch the 5th birthday party at the Denton meeting! Meanwhile Fran is at the Capitol all day and the Wilco meeting that night. Susan will be at the Capitol, too, with Texans for Vaccine Choice.
FEB 20: Julie will be with Sheriff Waybourn, County Judge O'Hare, Judge Kimberly Fitzpatrick and many others for a Mansfield candidate event as we try to keep South Tarrant from turning blue! Susan will be joining the Cross Timbers meeting in Granbury.
FEB 22: Fran is hosting a coffee in her home
FEB 25: Fran is back at the Capitol with the True Texas army.
FEB 28: Susan is at the Denton County happy hour.
Folks are always asking for "just 5 minutes" to chat with us. Take advantage of those dates above. We're busy, but this is time we set aside to see you!
SPREADING THE LOVE
Fran, Susan, and I love being a resource to y'all. It is a privilege to us to have earned your trust. My hope is that the satellite directors in your area will earn that same trust and become your go-to resource for political questions and needs. At the end of each newsletter going forward, we will provide their contact email so that you can have access to them. Utilize it! It's a big state, and we need everyone at the top of their game!
#1 QUESTION RECEIVED: Can we close the Primaries???
Y'all send me a lot of great questions, and I do my best to answer. One that has stumped me has been about closing the Primaries. Yes, we voted for it at the State GOP Convention (meaning you now have to be a registered Republican to vote in the Republican Primary, and Dems cannot crossover into our elections unless they register as Republicans), but what actually makes that decision go into effect? I inquired and found the answer!
The Republican Party of Texas will now meet with Secretary of State Jane Nelson to work on logistics. If the state refuses, we go to court. If the state cooperates, someone will sue us, and we'll still have to go to court. So, yes, the Republican Primary in Texas is now closed, but the RINOs (aka undocumented Democrats) are going to try to keep them open. Now you know!
ICYMI (in case you missed it)
Texas Tough tickets are now on sale! It's our biggest event every year, and this year we've added MORE. Also, get the dance lessons on your calendar!
