He remains committed to working across the aisle to address key challenges, including countering China’s aggressive and coercive actions, securing critical supply chains, and strengthening multilateral alliances.

Honoring the life and legacy of former President Jimmy Carter:
→ Ami had the privilege of honoring the life and legacy of President Jimmy Carter at the Washington National Cathedral in early January. We reflect on President Carter’s contributions, and remember him as a great American who dedicated his life to creating a better, kinder, and more peaceful world during his presidency and throughout his life.
Federal commitment to support victims of the LA wildfires:
→ Ami has supported providing the necessary relief to help those impacted by natural disasters throughout his time in Congress, and continued that approach in response to the devastating wildfires in L.A. County. He joined Senator Alex Padilla, Senator Adam Schiff, and 46 other Members of the California delegation in supporting Joe Biden’s swift approval of a major disaster declaration.
Sworn in for the 119th Congress:
→ Dr. Ami Bera was honored to be reelected last November and sworn in January 3rd to begin his seventh term as a member of the 119th Congress! WhenAmi was first sworn in twelve years ago, he was the sole Indian American Member of Congress and only the third in U.S. history. Today, Ami is the longest serving Indian American in history and stands among a coalition of six. He is proud to continue representing residents of Sacramento County and California’s 6th congressional district in Washington, DC.
Certified the Election:
→ On January 6th, Ami joined his House and Senate colleagues in order to fulfill their constitutional duty of certifying the results of the 2024 presidential election. As you well know, the complete opposite situation unfolded, four years ago, when a mob stormed the Capitol in an attempt to disrupt the certification of the legitimate 2020 election results. Ami will continue to fight for the American people and protect our democracy.
End of Year District Statistics:
→ During the last Congress, Ami’s team resolved over 6,600 constituent cases and returned more than $5,000,000 to Sacramento County taxpayers. This includes assisting residents with stalled passports and tax returns, helping seniors access Social Security and Medicare benefits, and ensuring veterans receive the benefits they have earned. He also helped secure over $295,000,000 in federal funding and grants to improve the Sacramento region’s infrastructure, economy, and more.
