Hi friend,
In the chaotic two weeks since Donald Trump was inaugurated, confirmation hearings for his Cabinet nominees have progressed at a steady clip. If confirmed, they will have the power to decide which departments and programs receive funding and which health priorities to pursue. They will have the ability to regulate mifepristone-medication abortion-and to make decisions about whether or not to prosecute anti-abortion extremists.
As we work to blunt the damage his administration has promised to wreak on reproductive health and rights, we urge you to tell your senators to vote NO [[link removed]] on the following nominees:
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.- Secretary of Health and Human Services : During his confirmation hearing [[link removed]] on January 29, RFK, Jr. could not answer yes to the question “do you support health as a human right?” and repeatedly said “I agree with Trump that every abortion is a tragedy.” And, frankly, he’s simply a crackpot.
Dave Weldon- Head of the Centers for Disease Control : In 2005, as a Florida congressman, Dave Weldon authored the deeply damaging Weldon Amendment [[link removed]] , a refusal of care policy that bars federal funding from going to agencies, programs, and state and local governments that “discriminate” against health insurance plans, providers, and organizations that refuse to provide abortion services.
Marty Makary- Head of the Food and Drug Administration : Anti-abortion doctor Marty Makary has made bogus claims [[link removed]] in his efforts to ban access to legal abortion.
Pam Bondi- Attorney General : Pam Bondi, Trump’s pick for Attorney General, has a clear anti-abortion record [[link removed]] from her time as Florida Attorney General, where she defended both a mandatory 24 hour waiting period for abortion and an anti-abortion counseling requirement.
Russ Vought- Head of the Office of Management and Budget : Russ Vought, the chief engineer of Project 2025, has advocated for “abortion abolition.” [[link removed]] He wants to ban abortion providers [[link removed]] in the US from receiving Title X funding and supports the Global Gag Rule. He also claims the power to simply ignore Congress’ funding bills if he doesn’t agree with them.
Tell Your Senators to Vote No! [[link removed]]
As the heads of these critical government agencies, these dangerous nominees will work swiftly and aggressively to eliminate access to abortion and contraception and shield anti-abortion forces from prosecution.
Please take a minute and ask your senators to vote NO on these 5 dangerous nominees.
Thanks for your commitment to protecting reproductive freedom.
In solidarity,
