John --
When Dwight saw Ogontz Avenue in need of support, he didn't just sit around and watch his neighborhood fall apart. He became a community advocate, eventually ran for state legislature -- won -- and then worked each and every day to transform his neighborhood block by block.
And once Dwight was done with Ogontz Avenue, he went to work helping the rest of Philadelphia. His goal was simple: build on his success of revitalizing the community he grew up in by continuing to win life-saving change for communities at the federal level. Governor Wolf even called him "a force to be reckoned with."
And when he got to Washington, he did just that, John. Since day one, Dwight has fought for good jobs, affordable housing, access to fresh foods, community safety, and the kind of kitchen-table issues that have a real impact on Philadelphia families. Having dealt with both Republican and Democratic governors, he's demonstrated time and again his remarkable ability to get things done -- even when it's hard.
John, if you're proud of the work Dwight has done for us, then chip in $3 or more today to help him protect the House majority and elect fellow people-first Democrats up and down the ballot this year.
When Dwight was officially proclaimed our Congressman-elect, he made one thing clear: “This is not my victory. This victory belongs to all of you.” People talk a lot about states in Congress, but it's Dwight who has forced leaders to talk about cities and the needs of their residents. And as a North Philadelphia native who got his start teaching for the School District of Philadelphia, he knows a thing or two about what it's like to try and secure your piece of the American Dream in the big city.
There are a lot of challenges ahead of us, challenges whose impact will be felt most strongly by the Black community, by low-income workers, and by our friends and neighbors up and down the block. That's why we need to keep leaders like Dwight fighting for us in Congress. He has a proven track record of putting our needs first -- and winning.
Dwight is incredibly grateful for your support so far -- but he needs your help again today, John. So please, if you can, rush a donation of $3 or more before our critical end-of-month deadline this weekend.
