Lauren Underwood For Congress

Throughout our nation’s history, we've honored the immense contributions and powerful impacts of those who have championed representation, civil rights, and racial justice.

Illinois is rich in its legacy of Black leaders, and Lauren proudly works within that legacy. Lauren was honored to receive President Obama’s endorsement in 2018, and in a passionate campaign speech, President Barack Obama promised that Lauren “will protect your care.” That’s exactly what she’s done in Congress.

President Obama: 'Lauren Underwood, one of our candidates for Congress, knows what's at stake.'

President Obama initially appointed Lauren as a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services before endorsing her for Congress. Figures like President Obama and Senator Carol Moseley Braun, a trailblazer who became the first Black woman to represent Illinois in the U.S. Senate in 1993, fuel Lauren’s passion and fight to this day.

Extraordinary leaders like Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm have paved the way for Black women like Lauren. Chisholm famously declared, “If they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.”

That spirit lives on in Lauren, the youngest Black woman ever elected to Congress, as she continues to fight for a space at the table for future generations.

By supporting Lauren, you're helping to secure a bright future and fortify the legacy of these remarkable pioneers.

Will you contribute $3 today to back Lauren's reelection and carry forward the torch of progress that figures like Congresswoman Chisholm, Senator Moseley Braun, President Obama, and Lauren herself have held high?
