Dear John,
It’s been a week full of pardons, hearings, and—sadly—a terrible tragedy, but I wanted to take a moment to update you on the important work we’ve been doing to advance our conservative values in Washington.
I am heartbroken by the American Airlines crash over Reagan National Airport. I know we will all continue to pray for the families and friends of the victims. I want to thank our first responders who rushed to the scene to do everything they could to help. May God be with the families, victims, and everyone touched by this disaster.
I applaud President Trump for pardoning 23 pro-life activists whom the previous administration unjustly targeted for standing up for the sanctity of life. These men and women—some elderly, some in poor health—were prosecuted simply for peacefully defending the unborn. It was unbelievable that Biden’s Justice Department persecuted and vilified pro-life Americans all while turning a blind eye to the wave of violent attacks on pregnancy centers across the country. President Trump’s pardons are a bold stand for life, justice, and the Constitution—a stark contrast to the previous administration’s open disdain for pro-life Americans.
Recent fires in California have—once again—highlighted the consequences of poor forest management. That’s why it’s good news that the bipartisan Fix Our Forests Act passed the House. We’ve seen firsthand how inadequate preparation and lack of action in high-risk areas can lead to tragedies that destroy communities, homes, and lives. Local leaders in California knew these areas were at risk, yet failed to take the necessary steps to prevent this outcome. This act will provide local land managers and firefighters with the tools and resources they need, such as restoring forest health and building greater resilience in dangerous fire zones. Responsible forest management is needed to reduce the risk of more destruction in the future.
