Here's what our movement was up to last month:

Hi–

In 2025, we're doubling down on our fight to end gun violence—because our lives depend on it.

Read on to find out what our gun safety movement was up to in January:

Take Action

Donald Trump's nomination of Kash Patel to be the next FBI Director is a threat to public safety and the rule of law.

We deserve an experienced, independent FBI Director who understands the FBI's most basic function: that it should be working to keep us safe. Kash Patel isn't that—he's a dangerous extremist who won't serve as a check on Trump's worst impulses.

Patel is a dangerous pick—and he must be stopped. Tell your senators to reject Kash Patel's nomination.

From the Field: Moms Demand Action

A large group of Moms Demand Action volunteers in red shirts hold up a "Moms Demand Action" banner.

Last month, our Virginia volunteers held their largest Advocacy Day in the chapter's decade-long history with more than 200 Moms, survivors, students, and partners converging on the State Capitol!

And just a week later, a group of gun extremists gathered in Richmond to advocate against common-sense gun policies—but just a handful of people turned out.

We've got the numbers—and the determination—to win this fight. After a gun sense majority was elected to the General Assembly in 2023, Virginia lawmakers passed dozens of life-saving gun safety bills last year—five of which were signed into law.

We're ready to roll up our red sleeves and build on this incredible progress in 2025—join us in District of Columbia.

This week, Tennessee Students Demand Action volunteers joined a protest at the State Capitol where more than 350 students called on state lawmakers to pass stronger gun laws.

Tennessee students are demanding their lawmakers pass gun safety measures during the upcoming session after a shooting last month at Antioch High School killed one and left another injured.

Students are organizing in states across the country to build a future free from gun violence. Get involved with your local chapter of Students Demand Action.

Everytown in the News

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) plays a critical role in enforcing our gun laws and holding bad actors in the gun industry accountable. Gun extremists in Congress have called to defund and even abolish ATF altogether—but we know full funding and strong support for the agency is critical to keeping our communities safe.

"ATF is the most important agency you've never heard of," said Nick Suplina, Senior Vice President of Law and Policy at Everytown. "The agency needs to be protected from some of the extreme voices in this political environment."

The 2025 Gun Law Rankings were just released. Each year, Everytown analyzes 50 gun safety policies across the country, ranking every state based on the strength of its gun laws.

This year, once again, a clear pattern emerged: States with strong gun laws see less gun violence. How strong are District of Columbia's gun laws? Check out the 2025 Gun Law Rankings.

Good News!

Following December's tragic shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, Governor Evers signed an executive order last month to create a statewide Office of Violence Prevention. Wisconsin will now direct $10 million to support gun violence prevention work statewide!

This is a major victory for the Wisconsin gun safety movement—and it wouldn't have been possible without our volunteers' years of hard work.

Thanks for being in this fight,
