Folks, Donald Trump is out for our federal workforce.
On Day One of his second term, he issued executive orders that order federal workers to return to the office in person five days a week and weaken job protections for civil servants.
He revived a policy called “Schedule F” — now renamed “Schedule Policy/Career” — that is designed to replace long-serving public servants with MAGA loyalists, subjecting government workers to ideology tests in order to hold onto their jobs.
Now, Trump has offered federal workers an alleged incentive to quit their jobs: eight months’ pay, if they hurry up and quit by next week.
But let’s be clear about one thing: There is no budget line item in the U.S. government to pay people who aren’t showing up for work — so do not be fooled by this.
Just like he has for decades in his organizations, I’m willing to bet that Trump will stiff our federal workers. We know Donald Trump — he’s tricked people with this kind of offer before, and we know he’ll do it again.
If you’re a federal worker and you accept his offer and resign, he’ll stiff you just like he’s stiffed thousands of contractors in the past.
The President has been trying to terrorize federal workers for the past week. Now, he’s handing out a sweetheart offer — if you resign in the next week, we’ll pay you for doing nothing! Do. Not. Be. Fooled.
Aside from being a known grifter and liar, Trump doesn’t even have the authority to make this kind of offer.
Our civil servants and government workers deserve better than tricks and lies from their boss — our President. If you agree, sign on to my petition today to say we should be supporting the federal workforce, not terrorizing them. [[link removed]]
Thanks for speaking up.
