Dear John,
BREAKING!
The Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act of 2020 (S. 3744), which was passed in the Senate earlier this month, has just passed the House and is moving to the president's desk to be signed into law. This bill calls to sanction Chinese government officials for their human rights abuses against Uyghur, ethnic Kazakh and other Muslim minorities.
For the past few years, over one million Uyghur Muslims forcefully detained in China, facing abuse, torture, and the flagrant denile of the right to life. The Chinese government is committing gross crimes against humanity with the systematic crackdown of their Muslim population, and they will do anything to quash criticism from its diaspora around the world.
WHAT HAVE WE DONE:
Emgage Action is proud to be working with activists like Rushan Abbas - a Uyghur activist and founder of the Campaign for Uyghurs - and countless other partners to shine light on the horrific human rights abuses happening to the Uyghur Muslims in China.
For the past two years, our team has worked in Washington, DC and in districts across the United States to raise awareness of the human rights abuses against the Uyghur minorities in China. We have participated in various stakeholder meetings, organized letter campaigns, lead advocacy days, attended hearings, and scheduled countless meetings with members of Congress on this issue - and our work would have not been possible without supporters like you. Our persistence has shown that together we CAN make a difference.

We urge the president to act swiftly, sign this bill into law and condemn China for their gross human rights abuses. It is time to take action and stand up for the Uyghur minorities in China and to put an end to the detention and violence.
“We must continue to raise a drumbeat and shine a light on the abuse perpetrated by Beijing against the Uyghur whenever we can from this House floor...” - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, May 27, 2020
“Today, we send a message that we stand with the Uyghurs and fight for the oppressed and we will not forget.” - Congressman Brad Sherman, May 27, 2020

The entire Emgage Action staff is proud to have worked to advocate for the Uyghurs, ethnic Kazakhs, and Muslim minorities in China. We will continue to fight for them and ensure that America upholds its values and continues to stand on the right side of history. Please consider donating to our work so we can continue to combat human rights abuses and protect religious freedoms.
