Weekend Reading

Hi John,

We all deserve to feel safe from harm, no matter where we are. But this week, the Trump administration ramped up immigration raids nationwide, putting families and community members at risk of separation. One simple way we can show solidarity with immigrants is to promote messages of love, dignity, and welcome for all. To help you do that, we have new posters ready for you to use. Take them to protests, vigils, and other events and display them in your home, school, workplace, congregation, and other spaces. Download our posters. [link removed]

GAZA

Helping Palestinians return home to Rafah [link removed]
By Kerri Kennedy

Just days after the cease-fire deal, many displaced Palestinians began returning to their homes. Last week, our team in Gaza entered the city of Rafah, determined to help people make the difficult trek. To assist, AFSC provided support to a private company in removing the rubble. Now, some streets that were blocked have been reopened. Watch the video. [link removed]

TAKE ACTION

Tell Congress: Protect our planet, not corporate profits! [link removed]

President Trump has issued executive orders that reverse progress to address climate change. Now Congress is considering more policies that will enrich fossil fuel companies at the expense of our air, land, and water. Instead of sacrificing our environment for corporate benefit, the U.S. must invest in clean energy and move away from fossil fuels. Join AFSC in calling on Congress to prioritize the health of our people and the planet!

AFSC STATEMENT

We must oppose Trump's efforts to silence and criminalize activists [link removed]

Earlier this week, the Trump administration issued an executive order attempting to criminalize and silence people protesting Israel’s genocide in Gaza. The order calls for the deportation of students involved in protests and instructs the Justice Department to aggressively prosecute pro-Palestinian activists. As a Quaker organization that has worked for decades to support peace and justice in Palestine and around the world, we strongly oppose this order. Read the statement. [link removed]

FROM OUR ARCHIVES

Exposing war profiteers [link removed]

In this video, AFSC Archivist Don Davis talks about an insidious U.S. weapon used during the Vietnam War. “Bomblets” were filled with steel balls and explosives that were dropped over vast areas, causing extensive civilian deaths. In Vietnam, AFSC staff treated bomblet victims in Quang Ngai. In the U.S., our NARMIC program worked to expose the companies that produce these weapons of war. Watch the video. [link removed]

Special thanks to our monthly donors, our Partners for Peace, for their ongoing support to make all our work possible.
