I know that for many of us, the past 11 days have been filled with uncertainty, frustration and sadness. In moments like these, or whenever things get tough, or things look particularly hopeless, I like to turn to my favorite song, “Love’s in need of love today” by Stevie Wonder.

The lyrics ring true even now, almost 50 years after its release:

In this time of divided government and extreme partisanship, it can sometimes feel like there’s only hate. I know I’m not the only one who gets frustrated in times of gridlock.

But what keeps me going in this work, is a commitment to building a better future for our children, and a better life for our communities.
