The Week in Review

Happy Friday!

I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 119th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.

Senate Confirmations of President Trump’s Cabinet Nominees

President Trump has worked at a rapid pace since assuming office less than two weeks ago. He’s signed dozens of Executive Orders and has taken steps to secure our border, dismantle Biden-Harris’s weaponized, two-tiered justice system, and withdraw the U.S. from corrupt international organizations and treaties like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Paris Climate Agreement.

The Senate has already confirmed eight of President Trump’s Cabinet Nominees, including:

  • Marco Rubio - Secretary of State
  • John Ratcliffe - CIA Director
  • Pete Hegseth - Secretary of Defense
  • Kristi Noem - Secretary of Homeland Security
  • Scott Bessent - Secretary of the Treasury
  • Sean Duffy - Secretary of Transportation
  • Lee Zeldin - Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Secretary
  • Doug Burgum - Secretary of the Interior

For President Trump to carry out the mandate delivered by the American people, the Senate must continue working to confirm his nominees. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Kash Patel, and Tulsi Gabbard testified in confirmation hearings this week. America’s Golden Age is upon us. I’ll keep you posted.

Protecting the Sanctity of Life

I co-led the Ensuring Justice for Victims of Partial-Birth Abortion Act, legislation sponsored by Congressman Keith Self (R-TX). The bill will force the United States Attorney General to thoroughly investigate any violations of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003. Congressman Self’s legislation was prompted by the discovery of the bodies of five aborted babies—known as the D.C. Five—outside of a Washington, D.C. abortion clinic.

Early last year, Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX) and I led a letter to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser demanding the preservation of evidence related to the D.C. Five. Partial-birth abortion is a barbaric practice, and that any practicing physician would use it to murder a baby—much less five babies—is horrifying. Every life has value; we are all made in the image of God. Those who violate the partial-birth abortion ban must be held to account, and I applaud Congressman Self’s leadership on this issue.

The Daily Caller covered the legislation here.

The bill text can be read here.

Commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Day

On Monday, we commemorated the 80th International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

We remember and honor the 6 million victims of persecution and genocide. We must stand strongly against antisemitism now more than ever.

Never forget.
