Democrats Muzzle Debate—Because Dissent Is Just Too Annoying
Washington Democrats just tossed out a 132-year-old rule requiring a supermajority to end debate—because who needs discussion when you can just bulldoze your agenda? Now, with a simple majority, they can shut down any opposing voices and ram through higher taxes, softer crime laws, and whatever else they please. Rep. Joe Fitzgibbon and friends clearly prefer an echo chamber to actual governance. Shift WA is calling out this blatant power grab and pushing for real transparency in Olympia. If Democrats are this scared of debate, maybe their ideas aren’t as great as they claim. Help us by signing our petition today!

Democrats Want Rent Control—Because Price Hikes Are Only Bad When They’re Not the Ones Raising Them
Sen. Jamie Pedersen and his Democratic allies are back with another bill to “protect renters,” which is code for more government meddling in housing contracts. This time, they’re targeting service fees and lease agreements—because apparently, people signing contracts they agreed to is now a crisis. Meanwhile, Republican Sen. Chris Gildon actually tried to find a reasonable compromise, but that’s never good enough for the big-government crowd. Democrats love to talk about “choice” until it involves property owners running their businesses as they see fit. If they really cared about affordable housing, they’d stop pushing policies that scare away landlords and drive up costs. Instead, they’d rather regulate, control, and micromanage until the entire housing market is a bureaucratic nightmare. Read more at Center Square.

Washington’s Business Climate: From Bad to Worse, Thanks to Democrats
Washington’s business climate has tanked under Democratic leadership, going from one of the best in the nation to one of the worst. While businesses struggle and first-year failure rates soar, state spending has exploded—because nothing says “fiscal responsibility” like a 51% spending increase in a decade. King, Pierce, and other major counties are seeing private-sector decline, but don’t worry—the bloated public sector is doing just fine. At some point, the Democrats will realize that you can’t fund a government when you’ve driven away all the job creators, but by then, the damage will be done. Maybe Governor Ferguson can wake up before it’s too late—but don’t hold your breath. Read more at the Washington Policy Center

Democrats Accidentally Propose a Good Idea—Will They Follow Through?
For once, a Democratic bill that actually helps businesses—Senate Bill 5130 would eliminate child care licensing fees, cutting some costs for providers and (gasp!) making care slightly more affordable. There’s no opposition so far, and even bureaucrats admit the temporary suspension during COVID was beneficial. But here’s the catch: it would cost the state $2 million in lost fees, and we all know how much Democrats hate losing revenue—no matter how small. With their endless spending addiction, will they really pass up a chance to nickel-and-dime child care providers? Stay tuned to see if common sense wins or if lawmakers find a way to ruin it.
