| Friend, In just a week, Donald Trump has issued 37 executive orders spanning everything from abortion to federal grant funding to LGBTQ+ populations.(1) Some he has already rescinded. Some have been blocked by the courts. The chaos is purposeful -- Trump is hoping to overwhelm us so we are caught in the whirlwind and can't fight back. We refuse to let Trump direct the narrative. We are not backing down! We are a grassroots organization, and we are only as strong as our members and their commitment to the cause. So we have a few important questions to ask you in this pivotal moment.
We can't let the Trump tornado take our eyes off our ultimate goal -- a more just and equitable California for all. California is by far the wealthiest state in the nation, and we have led on many first-of-the-nation policies to make California a sanctuary for immigrants, reduce carbon emissions, and increase pay and expand rights for workers. We can -- and must -- do amazing things, even with Trump in the White House. But it’s going to take us raising our voices above the billionaires running the White House. It's going to take us fighting their selfish agenda to raid the programs we all depend on in order to enrich themselves.
