In 2004, Rep. Longdon was paralyzed in a random drive-by shooting. It changed the trajectory of her life overnight. In the years since, she has worked tirelessly to raise awareness and improve the lives of people with disabilities.

In 2019, she testified before Congress at a hearing on "The Public Health Consequences and Costs of Gun Violence."
