Demand a Halt to Gas Infrastructure Buildout!

** New Yorkers will hold an online “People’s Hearing ([link removed]) ” Thursday, May 28 at 2pm to call for renewable heat and energy efficiency and to demand a halt to gas infrastructure buildout.
------------------------------------------------------------

For over three years, New Yorkers fought to stop the Williams NESE fracked gas pipeline and finally won on May 15! But instead of listening to New Yorkers, corporate utility National Grid is pushing their “Plan B” to bring in more fracked gas by:
-Speeding up construction of a transmission pipeline through North Brooklyn;
-Expanding their Greenpoint Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility; and
-Expanding compressor stations along the “Iroquois” Pipeline.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) could make a decision on National Grid’s long-term energy plan at their June 11 meeting, and therefore we are coming together to voice our opposition to the gas infrastructure buildout plans and to advocate for the renewable, no infrastructure option.

What: an online People’s Hearing ([link removed]) to say NO to National Grid’s "Plan B." Information about the fracked gas options (pursued by National Grid) and about the No Infrastructure Alternative (the only option in compliance with the CLCPA) will be presented. Afterward, attendees will have an opportunity to record their comments.

Who: Renewable Heat Now Member Groups Sane Energy Project, Alliance for a Green Economy, New Yorkers for Clean Power, and Mothers Out Front join with allies at Stop the Williams Pipeline Coalition, NY Renews, and the No NBK Pipeline Coalition; concerned community members and environmental advocates from NY and CT.

Where/When: Thursday, May 28 from 2pm to 3:30pm via Zoom ([link removed]) .

Hope you can join the Zoom to find out how to engage in this urgent new fight.

Until tomorrow,

Andra
Communications and Outreach Director
