A Fork in the Road
The need for a functioning congress is higher than ever and the excuses for partisan gridlock aren't good enough. If members of congress don't want to govern, they should make room for someone who will.
In 1993, Bill Clinton signed a law <[link removed]> reducing the number of federal employees by 273,000. This was part of a larger effort to streamline the federal government and reign in spending.? This law was debated and passed in congress. The current attempt to achieve similar goals is being orchestrated by unelected members of a made up department reporting to the richest man in the world by the authority of President Trump's executive order.? Proponents of this (and Trumps many other first week executive orders) will say that the President has to govern this way. That the wheels of government move too slow to wait for congress to act, and in many ways, they're right. Much of the government has abdicated their responsibilities and left everything up to the executive branch to act unilaterally. What should be a legislative body that finds compromised solutions to the biggest issues in our county, has turned into a platform for signaling partisan purity and rigid principles. They can't even pass a budget.
We need good representation at all levels of our government. We at Forward are trying to live this principle by helping people Just Like You?get involved at the local level. We believe that this will build the foundations of our new party and is critical for better governance. We are a country full of great potential leaders that have gone untapped for too long. This is a fork in the road where we must do things differently to tackle the important issues our current Congress appears unwilling or unable to do.
Forward is working hard to make this happen and we need people like you.?
