Hey EnviroVoter,
I'm Erika, the Press Manager at California Environmental Voters.
Trump's current method is to overwhelm with negativity to make it harder for you to stay informed and active. But we're not going to let that happen.
The EnviroVoters weekly roundup is here to give you a quick digest of federal environmental actions to keep you informed as an environmental advocate. Want more updates as they come? Follow us on social media!
Something to Celebrate:
This week, the American people stood up to Trump's proposed cuts to vital programs—and won.
Trump published a memo this week announcing unconstitutional attempts to cut vital federal programs. It's a deeply unpopular policy straight out of the Project 2025 playbook, designed to grab financial power out of Congress' hands. This would've put every federal program at risk, from climate-related disaster aid to fundamental assistance programs like the low income home energy program.
U.S. District Judge Loren AliKhan (a Biden appointee!) temporarily blocked the memo just minutes before it would've taken effect. And to top it off, the American people rose up with mass outrage, forcing Trump to rescind the memo entirely.
This is a huge win, and it shows just how powerful our mobilization and activism work is. While it's clear that the fight against Project 2025 is far from over, this moment proved that our mobilization and activism efforts really do work to defend the people and communities we care about.
Something You Can Do:
Sign our petition urging Governor Newsom to stand up against President Trump's order to "open up the pumps and valves in the north" by dismantling environmental protections and extracting water from the already-collapsing Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.
It's clear that Trump either understands very little about California's water system—or he's intentionally exploiting the recent wildfire tragedies to grasp for power and put money in the pockets of corporate interests. Instead of offering federal support for strengthening infrastructure, he's proposing irreversible damage to the largest estuary on the West Coast, vital and fragile ecological systems, and the lives and livelihoods of Californians.
Either way, he's threatening to withhold federal aid if California doesn't accept his unnecessary changes in our water policy. Will you join us in urging Governor Newsom to resist this federal overreach and stand firm on California's water protections?

Something For You:
@soheefit on Threads: "my imposter syndrome is quickly going away as I realize how many wholly unqualified people are being put in positions of power"
