Dear SPUC supporter,

I am writing to ask for your urgent support in the face of unprecedented attacks on innocent life in our country.

(If you have already donated, please accept my heartfelt thanks).

Kim Leadbeater’s Assisted Dying Bill is one of the most dangerous pieces of legislation ever introduced into the House of Commons.

If this Bill passes, we will face a catastrophe on the scale of the 1967 Abortion Act.

A new and dark era will open up in our nation’s history. The closing phase of life will become as dangerous for vulnerable people as the first months are for unborn children.

Since 1967 more than ten million babies have been killed in the UK. And if the Leadbeater Bill becomes law, millions more innocents could die before this tragic tide is reversed.

History shows it’s always easier to prevent an evil law passing, than to repeal it afterwards.

My team has the challenge, and heavy responsibility, of defeating this Bill whilst maintaining our efforts in battling abortion - they are killing hundreds of precious babies every day.

That’s why I am trying to raise £100,000 this month. I want to beat Assisted Dying without weakening our efforts defending babies.

But with the planned deadline only 48 hours away, we are still £72,768 short.

Will you join us TODAY in this historic fight to protect innocent life?

As we campaign against the Leadbeater Bill, we are facing two very grave threats on the abortion front.

The abortion industry, and their allies in Parliament, are lobbying hard to remove abortion entirely from the criminal law.

This “decriminalisation” would eliminate existing abortion restrictions, making it easier to obtain, and bringing about the deaths of countless more babies.

We must make sure this never happens.

SPUC has defeated every previous attempt at decriminalisation but our resources have never been as stretched as they are right now.

We MUST meet our financial goals to keep up a war on two fronts.

At the same time as the abortion lobby fights for the freedom to kill, they also fight to take freedom away from pro-lifers.

The buffer zones bill makes helping vulnerable women outside an abortion clinic a criminal offence.

Under this new law pro-lifers who try to save babies and help women face an unlimited fine.

And this extends even to silent prayer offered for our innocent brothers and sisters.

They want to decriminalise killing babies while criminalising saving babies.

This travesty of justice cannot be allowed to stand.

SPUC is fighting back.

Pro-death MPs are facing a massive grassroots army made up of tens of thousands of SPUC supporters and backed by fifty-eight local branches.

This people’s movement is powerfully led and supported by SPUC’s team of professional lobbyists, researchers, and experienced pro-life veterans.

SPUC is giving a voice to the unborn in the corridors of power. And we are changing the culture of our country in the spheres that matter most: politics, education, academia, medicine, journalism, and law.

Our powerful combination of grassroots might with professional expertise truly strikes terror into the heart of pro-death MPs.
Post on X from Stella Creasy MP, 24/6/2022

The zealous pro-abortion MP Stella Creasy recently warned her movement that Britain’s abortion laws could soon be overturned because “SPUC lobby hard”.

And we do.

So far, we have defeated EVERY attempt to decriminalise abortion and EVERY attempt to legalise Assisted Dying.

But with the House of Commons more hostile than ever, we need to turn up the pressure on politicians to unprecedented levels.

To do this we need:
* More branches
* More lobbyists
* More polling
* More leafleting
* More parliamentary events
* More research briefings
* More advertising
* More airtime
* More social media presence
* More school speakers
* More public acts of witness.

And to do all this, we need more money.

SPUC supporter, in truth asking for money doesn’t come naturally to me.

But the brutal reality is that every item on that list has a cost.

And, as Chief Executive, I have to face up to the fact that my team can only do so much with the resources available.

I simply must raise more money to defeat Assisted Dying, overturn buffer zones, and lead the British pro-life movement to total victory.

That is why I set an ambitious EMERGENCY goal of £100,000 to be raised in the last ten days of January.

So far, as of 31 January, we have raised £27,232.

I am profoundly grateful to everyone who has helped us to get this far.

It is a moving testimony of your love for unborn children and for the most vulnerable amongst us.

But it still leaves us £72,768 short of our final goal.

If we don’t raise the full amount, I will have to consider diverting funds from other projects, in order that we can do everything possible to defeat the Leadbeater Bill.

This will inevitably have consequences in other areas of the pro-life fight.

But if everyone reading this email gave a gift at the level they could afford, this decision could be averted, and all our work can carry on at full speed.
Donate ([link removed])

The average donation SPUC receives is about £50, but gifts of every size are deeply appreciated. Donations of £20 or £35 have long been the foundation of our work.

And when people tell me that £5 is all they can afford, I am deeply moved to receive the widow’s mite.

Donations of £500, £1,000 or £5,000, will bring us to our goal sooner and allow me to get the team working on our urgent initiatives right away. Every moment matters as we approach April’s vote.

And gifts of £10,000, or more, open up whole new horizons in the fight for life in this country. They will help us achieve historic change in the months and years ahead.

However much you can afford to give, please know that your generosity is deeply appreciated. And I give you my word that your contribution will be wisely used.

Together, through our sacrifices and our love, we will secure legal protection for every innocent person from the moment of conception until natural death.

Thank you for your support for SPUC and for the most vulnerable amongst us,
John Deighan
Chief Executive
