James — yesterday, the DNC shut out our grassroots members by closing a “public” DNC Candidates Forum to the public.
It’s clear Democratic leadership don’t want to hear from the base as just 448 insiders will vote on new DNC leadership tomorrow. But today I’m here at the official DNC meeting as the leader of Our Revolution with our volunteers and allies calling for a new direction for the Democratic Party. We will not be silenced.
We are joining with progressive DNC delegates to send a clear message: the Democrats need to stop taking money from Big Tech, Big Oil, Wall Street and other billionaires — many of whom are collaborating with Trump to co-opt our democracy for their own personal gain.
Bottom line — there can’t be TWO corporate parties in America. We need a true opposition party that isn’t dependent on Big Money if we’re going to take on Trump and the oligarchs. That’s why our Citizen Action Team is pressuring DNC voting members to Reject Corporate Money — please add your voice to this urgent call!
WHAT WE’RE DOING AND WHY — Our Revolution is organizing delegates, getting DNC leadership candidates on the record, and ensuring the voice of the people is heard before the leadership election on Saturday.
In our member survey, just 14% had high confidence that Democrats will be effective in working to block the worst of Trump and his agenda. Meanwhile, 88% told us the Democratic Party needs to reject corporate influence (the remaining 12% said they’ve lost faith in the party altogether).
Corporate money has knee-capped progressives in primaries, prioritized the interests of billionaires and elites, and given right-wing groups like AIPAC, crypto PACs, Big Pharma, and others influence over Party elections and politics.
The Party is unwilling to transform itself — that’s why we’re rallying our movement to force the changes that we so desperately need.
The 448 DNC members will vote in new leadership this weekend! Will you add to Our Revolution’s pressure campaign of calls, petitions, distributed organizing, and big media moments aimed at DNC members? Add your name: Tell DNC voting members to Reject Corporate Money.
The Democratic Party cannot win back the working class and become a True Opposition Party to Trump 2.0 without first addressing its own structural decay.
The corporate hacks are paying more attention to Big Tech, Big Pharma, and billionaires like Mark Cuban and Reid Hoffman than to the needs of people and the planet.
The Party that lost to Donald Trump twice will not be the force that stops his extreme, unprecedented drive towards Authoritarian Capitalism unless we transform the Party.
Add your name: Cut off the party’s reliance on corporate donors and ban corporate money from Democratic politics! We need to gather as many grassroots signatures as possible by tomorrow’s vote.
We know it’s been an overwhelming couple of weeks, but we are coming together to fight back. We are not powerless to make change in the Party and fight back against Trump’s Oligarchy.
In solidarity,
Joseph Geevarghese, Executive Director
