Team,

I’ll never forget the moment I took that oath of office, looking up to see my mother wipe tears from her eyes in the balcony. My parents immigrated from Korea to New Jersey to seek a better life. Because my country invested in me, I got a great public school education, became a Rhodes Scholar, served presidents and generals -- and now I serve as a member of Congress.

But today, nearly 40% of American families cannot afford a $400 emergency. That’s unacceptable. I will judge my success in Congress by my ability to lower that number.

That’s why I ran for Congress -- to go to work for families like yours and mine. That’s why I’m focused on protecting our healthcare, tackling big challenges like the opioid epidemic, lowering prescription drug prices, and strengthening our democracy

I need you with me in that fight. And make no mistake: This is a fight -- one we can and we must win.

Our 2018 race was the most expensive in New Jersey’s history, and the closest in the state, and 2020 could be even tougher.

We don’t have corporate PACs or right-wing billionaires ready to swoop in and bail us out. This fight will be won or lost on the power of grassroots donors like you.

I need to know that you’ve got my back so that I can keep fighting for us. Can you chip in just $10 per month to help us keep building on the progress we made together in 2018?

Thanks for standing with us, friends.
