Team,
On Tuesday, Senator Gary Peters announced he would not seek reelection in 2026. Senator Peters has dedicated decades of his life to public service and I am so grateful for the work he has done to fight for Michiganders and working families across America.
Gary Peters is a longtime friend and colleague. Together, we’ve worked on a lot of issues that matter to Michiganders, from protecting families and communities from PFAS to defending the auto industry. Our state and our nation are better thanks to the hard work and service of Gary Peters.
I’ve been asked if I would consider candidacy for Senate, but I have made my plans clear: I still have work to do in the House, and I am not going to run for Michigan’s open Senate seat.
Right now, I am the Democratic dean of the Michigan Congressional Delegation. I have issues that I need to prioritize and fight for, including protecting jobs, bringing down prices including health care and prescription drug prices, bringing the supply chain back to the U.S., strengthening our auto industry, and protecting our environment.
It’s important now more than ever to focus and recommit to these priorities and I’m not giving up on delivering for the American people.
Will you make a contribution to my critical end-of-month fundraising deadline before midnight to fuel my work? There’s a lot on the line right now, Team, and I’m dedicated to making sure my constituent's voices are heard in Congress.
