Our event Friday was a MAJOR success. We spent over an hour together sharing our healthcare experiences and diving into the ugly impacts of COVID-19. Over 40 million Americans have filed for unemployment as this pandemic has stretched on. We cannot afford to continue with a business as usual approach that would find it acceptable that those 40 million Americans could have all lost their coverage overnight.

Though the situation may be dire, I left feeling re-energized and ready to continue the fight to pass the policies we KNOW will help. Watch more here.

Cori: “Dr. Dooley and I have both been across this country talking about Medicare for All and holding town halls. Because we both believe that your healthcare should not be tied to your job status.”

Dr. Dooley: “Medicare for All is about Freedom. Freedom of where you want to work, or not work and still be taken care of.”

I told the folks on our call, plain and simple, when I walk into the halls of Congress, I am only accountable to you. Period. No one owns me—not the pharmaceutical companies, the med tech companies, or the health insurance companies. Because I am running to be a representative, not a lobbyist.

Friday night was just a glimpse of the people powered movement that has grown over the last four years for Medicare for All. But we need to ensure that the movement doesn’t just happen “outside” of the system. We need leaders with the courage and will to fight for policies that will save lives and keep us safe before we face a global pandemic.
