Trump blames Democrats and basically anyone who isn't a straight white male for DC plane crash
Folks, the MAGA cult leader acknowledged that officials do not yet know what caused the tragic mid-air collision at Reagan National Airport Wednesday night that took 67 lives, but he clearly isn't going to wait for investigators at the Federal Aviation Administration to complete their findings before letting us all know exactly who he thinks we should all blame: Democrats, women, minorities, gay people, etc. — basically anyone who isn't a conservative white, male red-hatter. Here are the facts: a US Army Blackhawk helicopter collided mid-air with an American Airlines passenger jet. Donald Trump is president. Donald Trump is in charge of the military. In one of his first acts as president, Donald Trump forced out the FAA chief. He is scapegoating minorities and women for his own failures just like every other wannabe dictator. When pressed on his unfounded claims, Trump appeared to call bullshit on is own bullshit, admitting, "We did not know what led to this crash but we have some very strong opinions and ideas." Uh, yeah we know, Donald.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Feud erupts at disaster hearing for Trump's FBI director nominee
Trump's supremely unqualified and downright dangerous pick to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kash Patel, is going to need a new pair of britches after yesterday's disastrous Senate confirmation, where he was caught blatantly lying on several occasions, feigning ignorance about his own words and actions and pretending to not know unhinged, far-right allies he has repeatedly associated with over the years. Someone please get this man some burn cream and a one-way ticket out of DC.

Trump says he will impose trade tariffs on Canada and Mexico on Saturday
We don't know how many times this needs repeating, but 👏 tariffs 👏 are 👏 taxes, and consumers will absolutely bear the brunt of Donald's pointless, reductive, and incredibly stupid trade wars. If he follows through on his threat to impose 25% tariffs on our North American neighbors starting tomorrow, we're going to have a helluva lot more than egg prices to worry about.

Staffing in control tower was "not normal" at time of deadly air collision
Officials are scrutinizing the actions of air traffic control and the military pilot flying an Army Blackhawk helicopter in the wake of country’s deadliest aviation disaster in almost a quarter century. According to new report by the FAA, one air traffic controller was responsible for coordinating helicopter traffic and arriving and departing planes when the collision happened. Those duties are often divided between two people, but the airport typically combines the roles at 9:30 PM, once traffic begins to slow down. On Wednesday the tower supervisor directed that they be combined earlier. The crash occurred before 9 PM in some of the most tightly controlled and monitored airspace in the world, just over three miles south of the White House and the US Capitol. Air crash investigations can take months, and federal investigators told reporters they would not speculate on the cause.

Pardoned Jan. 6 rioter says he has "no regrets" about storming US Capitol, sitting at "bitch" Nancy Pelosi's desk
Richard Barnett, a convicted felon and one of nearly 1,600 Jan. 6 rioters pardoned by Donald Trump, made headlines four years ago for storming the US Capitol to stop the certification of Joe Biden's 2020 election victory, unlawfully entering then-Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office and sitting at her desk, and leaving a note behind that read, "Hey Nancy, Bigo was here bi-otch." A photo of Barnett with his feet propped up on Pelosi's desk became one of the most indelible images of that very dark day. Now a free man thanks to the MAGA cult leader's unconscionable white-washing of his failed insurrection, Barnett took to the far-right propaganda airwaves and proclaimed he had "no regrets" about the incident. "Oh man, what a great time to be alive. You know, I'm so happy I could be a part of it." He continued, "Myself and over 1,600 other J6ers showed up that day for Trump because he asked us to be there." Asked about the charges he received for stealing an envelope that was on Pelosi’s desk, Barnett said, "I left 25 cents on the bitch’s desk." What a patriot.

BTC leads collective of progressive creators with plan to take back the internet from Joe Rogan and the right-wing machine

Michigan priest defrocked after making apparent Nazi salute at anti-abortion summit
In the time of Trump #2.0, throwing up a Sieg Heil on stage may not get the world's richest man-toddler in trouble, but the same cannot be said for Catholic priests, apparently. Calvin Robinson, who until this week held the title of priest-in-charge at St Paul’s Anglican Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, performed the appalling Nazi gesture at the end of speech on January 25 at the National Pro-Life Summit in Washington, DC, mimicking Elon Musk. Robinson defended his actions in a Facebook post on Wednesday, claiming it was a joke to troll "hysterical liberals." Higher ups in the Catholic Church, however, were not amused, and Robinson's license in the church was subsequently revoked. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
More Florida communities are pulling back from fluoride
The Sunshine State's crusade against science continues unabated, as more and more Florida communities have taken up the question of whether or not to fluoridate drinking water. Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral found in groundwater, soil, rivers, and lakes, and fluoridated water has reliably helped prevent and even reverse early tooth decay for more than 75 years, according to the National Institutes of Health. With conspiracy theorist and all-around nutjob Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on the precipice of becoming secretary of Health & Human Services, we can expect the anti-fluoride crusaders to only gain more influence and for this fight to expand beyond Ron DeSantis' domain. May science and common sense prevail.

What are we doing here, people?
And in other news
Hope...
