Friends,
Over the last weeks and months, we have seen the critical importance of health care for all Americans. And we know that one critical way that many Americans get their health care, especially Americans with pre-exisiting conditions, is through the Affordable Care Act.
Yet, rather than expand access to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) during this historic pandemic, President Trump is attacking it, and supporting efforts to dismantle it while we are experiencing a national health crisis.
My home state of Texas is leading the charge to strike down the ACA in a lawsuit headed to the Supreme Court for this October’s term. And the Trump Administration has not merely failed to defend the law in Court as it should, it has supported the effort to repeal it and has taken the position that the entire 2010 law should be repealed.
Where the Trump Administration has failed to defend the ACA, the House of Representatives has stepped in -- and it is defending the law in court.
So many people have shared with me how important the ACA has been for them and their families. And many are concerned about what will happen to people with pre-existing conditions, especially now with the uncertainty surrounding the novel coronavirus and its long-term impacts. Let me know what you think.
Do you support efforts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act?
This question is of critical importance. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me.
Together we can do anything,
