Friend — it's National Honey Bee Day! This holiday was started ten years ago for beekeepers and bee enthusiasts across the country to honor these important pollinators. As a gardener and bee lover myself, today should be a day of celebration ... but unfortunately it's not.

Earlier this week, the Trump administration proposed rollbacks to the Endangered Species Act that would make it harder to protect bee populations from climate change and dangerous pesticides, like neonics and sulfoxaflor, which are considered "very highly toxic" to bees and other pollinator populations. With a recent UN report detailing that over 1 million species around the globe are at risk of extinction, we need stronger protections in place.
