Discover the magic of winter in Maine at our 2025 Winter Outdoor Extravaganza!

Maine Outdoor Programs invites everyone to experience the beauty and adventure of winter in Maine in a welcoming, inclusive environment. This FREE event is designed for all identities, backgrounds, and experience levels, ensuring that everyone can join in the fun. Whether you’re a seasoned outdoor enthusiast or a first-time adventurer, we offer a variety of activities tailored to different abilities and interests.

If you're an early bird, meet our instructors for some sunrise ice fishing. We'll have your gear and bait ready to get a head start on the extravaganza! Continue fishing through the afternoon, or switch up your experience with activities including snowshoeing, skiing, snowmobiling, guided walks, fly tying, wildlife identification, and more!

Jump in the action and learn something new from our experienced instructors, or connect with your community from the comfort of your camp chair while you enjoy the music, door prizes, hot cocoa, and warmth of the campfire. See you there!

No gear? No problem!

Gear, supplies, bait, and instruction are all provided by MDIFW and our incredible partners! This event is an opportunity to explore new ways to enjoy winter in Maine without the commitment of buying new gear. 

Warm clothing such as jackets, boots, socks, hats, and mittens are also available at no charge thanks to Maine Gear Share. Please email us <[email protected]> to reserve items prior to the event so we can pack the right sizes.

You don't even need to purchase a fishing license for this event! *February 15 & 16 are free fishing days in Maine* which means on these days any person (except those whose license has been suspended or revoked) may fish without a license.
