Friends, I’m heartbroken about the aviation disaster near D.C.’s Washington National Airport that occurred late Wednesday evening.
Anne and I continue to pray for all those impacted, particularly the families of those on board AA Flight 5342, of the dedicated crew members, and of the servicemembers on board the Army helicopter. Sixty-seven lives cut tragically short, and countless loved ones grieving — our hearts are with you all.
I’m deeply grateful for the work of our first responders, as hundreds from D.C., Virginia, and Maryland arrived on the scene quickly and came together to respond as best they could.
We’re continuing to gather more information from local officials, the FAA, and the Army, and I can assure you I will be pushing for a thorough investigation into what happened.
I will update you as we learn more.
Sincerely,
Tim
