I know there’s a fire hose of news coming at you every day, but I have to alert you to a dangerous new bill in Congress that would stop millions of eligible voters from voting. Its effects would devastate our democracy, and it’s critical we take action to stop it now.
The so-called SAVE Act is a voter suppression bill that would require voters to produce one of an extremely narrow list of documents to prove US citizenship in order to participate in our most fundamental freedom to vote. If passed, tens of millions of Americans would face a powerful new barrier to participation. For VoteRiders’ entire history, our organization has focused on direct assistance and voter education. Today, in the face of the dangerous outcomes of the SAVE Act that would deny so many voters their rights, we need to do more. We must work together to stop this bill.
