NEWS: Alarming Percentage of Jewish Students Have Seen or Experienced Antisemitism Since 10/7

Eighty-three percent of Jewish college students have experienced or witnessed some form of antisemitism since the 10/7 Hamas attacks, according to a new survey by ADL, Hillel International and College Pulse.

[link removed]

Moreover, more than a quarter (27 percent) of Jewish students surveyed said they had observed antisemitic activity by faculty, compared to only 6 percent of non-Jewish students. The survey also found that two-thirds of Jewish students were not confident in their university’s ability to prevent antisemitic incidents, and 41 percent of Jewish students felt the need to hide their Jewish identity.

It is unacceptable that many Jewish students cannot be confident in their university’s ability to address and prevent antisemitic incidents, and that they now live in a world in which they feel compelled to conceal their identity and beliefs. These findings underscore the urgent need for university leaders to take action and protect Jewish students.

Making Progress with ADL

#UnMaskHateNY: ADL welcomes a bill in the New York Legislature designed to bring back and strengthen a law prohibiting masked intimidation. The law will protect New Yorkers from harassment, violence and intimidation by people wearing face coverings. In the past year, we’ve seen masked individuals threatening Jewish students and civilians on our campuses, on public transportation and in the streets of New York, using Klan-like tactics and hiding their identities behind masks. So ADL joined with civil rights leaders from across New York, including the National Urban League, NAACP New York State Conference, UJA Federation of New York and Jewish Community Relations Council to launch
#UnMaskHateNY to support diverse lawmakers in crafting this legislation.

Executive Order on Antisemitism: A new executive order from the Trump Administration calls on every federal agency and department to review and report on civil and criminal actions available to fight antisemitism. ADL commended the action, saying “combating antisemitism requires a whole-of-government approach, and we are eager to see every federal agency and department take concrete measures to address this scourge... any immigration-related ramifications obviously must be consistent with due process and existing federal statutes and regulations. They also should not be used to target individuals for their constitutionally protected speech.” ADL is committed to working across
the political spectrum in the fight against antisemitism and hate.

Budget Freeze Concerns: ADL is closely tracking a Trump administration executive action that appears to freeze federal assistance programs, including those that support the security and resilience of the Jewish community. As ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt noted, “While we do not have all the details, this action could jeopardize a broad number of essential programs that rely on federal funds, including the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, which provides financial assistance for security enhancements at nonprofits and houses of worship targeted by hate-fueled violence.” ADL is committed to helping policymakers understand the profound consequences that a funding freeze could have
on efforts to combat antisemitism and extremism.

Tell Congress to Improve Holocaust Education Across the Country. From elementary school hallways to college quads, Jewish students are facing a rising tide of hatred. Teaching the next generation about the history of the Holocaust is key to addressing antisemitism. Yet, only 30% of parents reported that their child’s school offered Holocaust education. Join ADL in demanding that Congress pass the HEAL Act so the government can assess Holocaust education nationally and we can then address what’s missing.

Parents may now have to worry that the doctor their children see is part of an organization that overlooks alleged terrorist activities. @AmerAcadPeds should clarify that it does not condone terrorism or support individuals associated with or applauding terrorist actions.

In case you needed more evidence of AfD’s hateful and extremist agenda, here’s what you should know: Germany’s AfD has embraced the antisemitic “Great Replacement” conspiracy, falsely claiming that Jewish elites are orchestrating mass immigration to replace Germans.
