Kash Patel's confirmation hearing is TOMORROW and we must tell senators to oppose his dangerous nomination to be Director of the FBI. Patel would be in charge of overseeing our nation’s Brady Background Check system. But Patel has said that on day one he would shut down the FBI as a creature of the “dark state.”

If Patel holds true to his word, his actions would intentionally undermine our nation’s background check system and leave the system responsible for stopping 5 million prohibited firearms sales completely impaired.

This is dangerous and life-threatening, friend, and we’re counting on our activists to speak our today: Please, will you urge your senator to oppose Patel’s nomination? We cannot let yet another gun extremist join the Trump administration — not when there are lives on the line. 

Patel cozies up to conspiracy theorists and hate group extremists, including appearing on QAnon conspiracy theorist podcasts. His radical view of the Second Amendment appears to have no limits: he even asserted that the ban on bump stocks (enacted in Trump’s prior administration) was an attack “on our Constitutional rights.” His radical views and agenda are particularly alarming when you consider that the FBI is solely responsible for investigating domestic hate groups and is charged with ensuring that they are flagged in the system to prevent the most extreme from accessing deadly weapons. Put simply, lives are at stake — and we need your help.

It is downright chilling that, if confirmed, Patel could intentionally undermine the national Brady Background Check system, exploiting loopholes to give dangerous extremists access to guns. Background checks are proven to prevent mass shootings, homicide, and suicide — weakening this system would inevitably lead to more gun violence.

If Patel becomes FBI Director, extremist groups like the Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers, and more would be empowered like never before. He has shown sympathies to these domestic terrorist groups already, and as FBI Director, he would have authority over every investigation into them.
