Countdown Conversations – Week 16

Our Team Are Gearing Up!

E 16 wiki e toe ana – 16 weeks to go

The life in politics is a fast-moving landscape that never stays still and this last week has been a classic example of that. Meanwhile, we had our first Candidate College in Rotorua
and Māori Conversations on Facebook are continuing to be popular.

Wānanga – Candidates College

With only 16 weeks to go, we are gearing up for a big 4 months of mahi and we met for the first time in person as a full team at Tunohopu Marae, Rotorua over the weekend. COVID-
19 rules meant that we had to wear masks and gloves during the pōwhiri and also keep our numbers to five per candidate team and we made it work.

The wairua was electric and there was a heap of bonding and training for the team. Part of the vibe is also that half of the rōpū were rangatahi and it’s a great sign of the future for our
kaupapa. We are also planning another wānanga for some time in June and we will let you know soon.

Key events for the calendar

As Aotearoa starts to open up to larger events, we need your help to know when events will be held in your electorate so that we can feed them into our shared calendar and
endeavour to have our candidates at the various kaupapa around their electorates. We can only do this with your help, so please email our National Secretary, Rose on this email link <mailto:[email protected]>.

Māori Conversations

Māori Conversations have being going for a month now and it’s a chance to keep informed on our current issues at a national and electorate level, and to get to know our candidates more.

Last week we had Inez White talk with Rawiri Waititi about home ownership and financial literacy and promoting the idea of getting our land back a ¼ acres at a time.  This week we had Taiaha Hawke and Pania Newton talking about Bastion Point and Ihumatao with John Tamihere.

You can watch these awesome interviews by clicking on Māori Conversations <[link removed]> which screens live on Facebook at 8pm each night.

With less than 114 days till the election, we need your support to donate <[link removed]> to the party to help build up our pūtea to win seats and return back to Parliament come 19 September and be the free Māori voice in Parliament:

Enjoy the holiday weekend.
