Hi John — We are sorry to share the sad news that longtime Democratic activist and leader Marianne McConnell passed away earlier this month at age 82. Marianne graduated from Rutgers with a nursing degree and later earned a law degree at Seton Hall. She had a long, successful career as an attorney, including as the Assistant Vice President for Government Relations at Beneficial Finance; a public defender; and working for the state in the Victims of Crime Compensation Board and the Department of Health.
A dedicated Democrat, she was Vice Chair of the Morris County Democratic Committee; President of the Women's Political Caucus of New Jersey; President of the New Jersey League of Women Voters; a Commissioner on the Morris County Board of Taxation; and a member of the Madison Board of Health. Marianne also ran for council in Randolph and held annual fundraising picnics in her backyard. We appreciate her many years of commitment and service and offer our condolences to her family and friends. In her memory, contributions can be made to the Public Broadcasting Service; National Public Radio; or the American Civil Liberties Union. [link removed] [[link removed]]
