People from across the Drug Policy Alliance community are coming forward to join the Reformers Club this week. Each has their own reason for joining, and many were spurred by a developing issue:
The Trump Administration has threatened to cut funding for addiction treatment, overdose prevention, and other lifesaving services. These programs are still under threat — impacts could be felt as soon as this Monday, February 3. President Trump is playing politics with our lives and the lives of our loved ones.
You know as well as I do that our nation needs a radical transformation of our drug policies. For decades now, we’ve seen how the drug war is a costly and destructive failure: $47 billion dollars a year wasted enforcing the drug war; a skyrocketing overdose crisis; families torn apart because of drug arrests and incarceration.
Poll after poll show that most Americans want it to end. The current Trump administration brings a lot of uncertainty. But there is one thing we are certain of: we made gains under the last Trump administration, and we have a strategy to do it again. And we need this whole movement to commit to the fight.
That’s where you come in. When you join today as the newest Reformers Club member, your monthly support will give us the power to keep pushing back in 2025 and beyond.
