John, this week served as a clear sign that the Trump Administration is going to abuse their power with an unapologetic fascist at the helm. See, I said I was going to be direct.

The truth is we’re going to have to work hard to be ready for the many fights ahead – this week we saw the power of public outcry and swift legal action to call out and push back on the Trump Administration's overreach of power with the unconstitutional funding freeze. There are many legal actions calling out the recent flurry of Trump’s disgusting executive orders.

Democracy saw a win this week. And we saw a clear signal that we can't let our foot off the gas. Knowing this, my team set a goal to raise an additional $5,200 before tomorrow night to help fund our double-pronged approach this year to hold the GOP accountable in D.C. while organizing and informing supporters on the ground and online. I’m going to be in Congress doing my job — fighting for your families. This GOP-led House is going to propose a lot of abusive and abhorrent legislation that promotes their extreme agenda and I will be working hard to block it. I will also be introducing legislation that prioritizes the people's needs, holding the GOP & Trump accountable when it is necessary, and I will not be silent when they make a move that endangers our country and our people.

My team and I are going to be on the ground and online — working to organize and inform year-round. One major marker of a fascist dictator is a skewed and one-sided media supporting an unaccountable government, sound familiar? That’s why I’m going to be organizing to push back on the disinformation radicalizing our communities by showing up and making sure you have the facts on what is going on in D.C.

I know that the recent news cycles have been making their horrifying acts feel inevitable, but I truly believe if we stay organized, funded, and united, we can beat this. This week proves we still have a (very slim!) minority power in this government and I’ll be damned if they don’t feel us pushing back on them at every chance.

So I need you to step out of the helplessness you might be feeling and into the here and now. As much as we might not feel ready — Trump is already pushing his fascist agenda and it’s on us to fight back against the noise and havoc they hope will overwhelm us.
