Sharp-tailed grouse display on a lek

Sharp-tailed grouse put on an amazing display during their spring mating rituals. Leaping in the air, rapidly stamping their feet, racing around and uttering a symphony of sounds — it's an experience not to be missed.

See their dances for yourself at Niobrara State Park's new viewing blind. The park is offering reservations for free from March 7 to April 20, first-come, first-served.

The park also offers electric campsites and fully-equipped cabins for those staying overnight to see this sunrise ritual.
