Free Speech For People

John,

This month, the House of Representatives passed its second stimulus package, the Heroes Act [ [link removed] ], to help address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The bill includes $3.6 billion to secure our elections by expanding no-excuse absentee voting and mandating at least 15 days of early voting.

Fair and free elections are the cornerstone of democracy. In the midst of this pandemic, now more than ever, we must fight for our democracy.

The Heroes Act is the most comprehensive approach to date to making voting accessible during this pandemic, calling on all states both to expand access to mail-in voting and to ensure safe in-person voting. The bill passed the House on May 15th and is now under Senate consideration.

*Call your Senators at 2**02-224-3121 or 202-224-3091 (TTY)** and tell them to support the election provisions of the Heroes Act. Americans have the right to vote safely and securely, even in the midst of a public health crisis.*

Time is running out to secure our elections. As we approach rescheduled primaries and the 2020 general election, we must ensure that people are not forced to choose between their health and their right to vote. Congress has an obligation to ensure that states have the guidance and the resources available to make these adjustments, and the Heroes Act helps to make that possible.

*Call your Senators at 202-224-3121 or 202-224-3091 (TTY) and urge them to vote in favor of the Heroes Act. We deserve safe, secure, and accessible elections.*

In solidarity,

John Bonifaz
