In his hearing yesterday, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. again proved that he is wholly unqualified to lead the Department of Health and Human Services, and that he will be a danger to abortion rights if confirmed.
Will you join our friends at Vote Pro-Choice in a call to the Senate to vote AGAINST his confirmation as Secretary of Health and Human Services?
In his hearing, RFK Jr.:
- Made clear that his past pro-choice statements are null and void, stating that “every abortion is a tragedy” and insinuating that having an abortion is immoral
- Refused to say whether emergency room doctors in states with abortion bans can provide life-saving care to a pregnant patient or must allow her to bleed out
- Indicated that he is open to changing dispensing guidelines and approvals of mifepristone—a deeply studied medication that has been safely and legally used for abortions and miscarriage care for over 20 years
- Confirmed that he will carry out President Trump’s agenda no matter the consequences, even saying “whatever he does…I will implement those policies.”
RFK Jr.’s statements on abortion were not gaffes, missteps, or wrong answers on a pop quiz.
Rather, they were a roadmap: he was letting anti-abortion legislators and advocates know the exact avenues through which he would be amenable to further restrictions on abortion.
We all deserve access to the full range of reproductive healthcare, regardless of geography or income. If given the chance, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would further demolish this fundamental freedom.
