John,
Next month, on February 25th, we are headed back to the voting booth for two special elections. This is our opportunity to demonstrate Democratic strength in Connecticut's first electoral challenge of the new Trump era.
The stakes have never been higher, further reinforced by the Trump Administration’s recent freeze on federal funding, endangering essential services across Connecticut. These special elections are about more than just filling seats—they are about electing leaders who will stand up against unnecessary government disruptions, safeguard critical programs, and advocate for the needs of working families in our communities.
Here are the seats in play: - 21st Senatorial District (Monroe, Seymour, Stratford, Shelton)
-
40th Assembly District (Groton, New London)
We have two young and dynamic Democrats who are already working to shape our local communities.
Tony Afriyie - 21st Senate District
Tony is a powerful voice for the next generation. As a Councilman and press secretary for Rep. Rosa DeLauro, he brings an urgent vision for change, focusing on economic inequality, workforce training, and creating pathways to good-paying jobs. |
Dan Gaiewski - 40th Assembly District
Dan brings a fresh perspective to the table, with experience on the Groton Town Council. He’s focused on securing more resources for the district, addressing housing needs, lowering family costs, and preparing for the impacts of Electric Boat's expansion. |
These candidates need your help. Please consider volunteering, where you can directly assist in engaging voters and do your part to get out the vote. |
With your support, we can elect leaders who will fight for meaningful, progressive change across Connecticut. We need our leaders to fight for working people, not the elites — Anthony and Daniel will deliver.
Thank you for standing with our local Democrats! Sincerely,
Jimmy Tickey Vice Chair |
