Grants Awarded in Collegeville & Upper Providence  

I’m proud to announce Collegeville Borough and Upper Providence Township have each been awarded grant money under the Act 13 program, which sends funding to statewide initiatives that include restoration, protection, abatement, mitigation, treatment and recreation projects. Congratulations! 

 

Recipient: Collegeville Borough 

Amount: $88,681 

Project: Donny Brook Stream Bank Restoration Project 

 

Recipient: Upper Providence Township 

Amount: $77,915 

Project: Bicycle, Pedestrian, and Greenway Planning Project 

 

Rhythm & Reason: A Tap Dance Symposium  

Coming up tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 30, at the Ursinus College Lenfest Theater, join Robyn Watson and Michael J. Love for Rhythm & Reason: A Tap Dance Symposium. The back-to-back tap dance workshops, designed for advanced beginner/intermediate to advanced dancers, are free and open to the Ursinus community and the public.  

 

The technique workshop hosted by special guest Robyn Watson will run from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., followed by an open rehearsal with Michael J. Love from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. 

 

Reintroducing Legislation for 2025-26 Legislative Session – Environment & Human Trafficking  

New week, new legislation! This time we’re focusing on my reintroduced bills and resolutions that relate to our environment here in PA, as well as human trafficking prevention. I will also be running my Protecting Riparian Buffers bill and Establishing Plain Language in Oil & Gas Property Contracts bill. Unlock Your Best Life: Free Community Event  

Neighbors, Unlock Your Best Life is a free community event coming up on Feb. 12 from the Montgomery County Coroner. Speakers from the Coroner's Office, Register of Wills, Recorder of Deeds, and Center for Loss & Bereavement will discuss how to prepare for sudden or expected loss, how to navigate processes after losing a loved one, and how to plan your own arrangements. SEPTA Fare Card Issues  

If your Senior, Reduced Fare, Paratransit, or Student SEPTA card is being declined at turnstiles or readers due to an incorrect expiration date, SEPTA is aware and actively working on solutions to resolve the issue.  

 

SEPTA is instructing frontline personnel to assist riders and allow affected cardholders to continue riding with no disruption. 

 

Keystone Contractors Association Scholarship Program  

Hey neighbor, the Keystone Contractors Association is offering a scholarship opportunity for graduating high school seniors and current college students pursing a construction-related degree. The 2025 annual scholarship award is a one-year scholarship up to $10,000 and renewable up to three years.

Sunday is World Wetlands Day! We’re celebrating our wetlands to raise awareness about how vital their continued conservation is to our environment., as well as their many benefits, including the wildlife stability, clean water, flood control, and more.  

Black History Month – February  

February is Black History Month! Throughout the month, we honor Black history and celebrate their triumphs, the inspirational and courageous leaders, and their significant impact to the history and shaping of the country and world.  

 

The national theme for 2025 is “African Americans and Labor” which emphasizes how important Black laborers were in the formation of the United States and their critical contributions to the workforce.
