John —
When I was sworn in to the United States Senate, these were my VIPs:
My high school librarian.
My boss from the hot dog stand I worked at in high school.
The Marines I fought with in Iraq.
Those are the people I wanted with me to celebrate that milestone. They’re the people who helped me get here, and they’re people I got into public service for in the first place.
Now, when Trump took his oath of office, these were his VIPs:
Their combined net worth is nearly a trillion dollars, and they had the best seats in the house. It says a lot.
All Trump cares about are his VIPs: the most ridiculously wealthy people on the planet. His top priority is getting them a massive tax cut while everything gets more expensive for the rest of us.
When I head to work in the morning, the people I’m fighting for are my VIPs: the middle class and working families. It’s harder than ever for these people to make ends meet, and it’s only getting worse. People are struggling, and they’re tired of being let down.
It’s my job for the next six years to deliver for them. And it’s our job — all of us — to show that Trump’s not going to lift a finger to help anybody living paycheck-to-paycheck. He’s all in with the billionaires.
We’re going to work around the clock to deliver that message, but I can’t do this without you.
