A Message from City Council Leader, Cllr David Mellen:
The Government?s guidance remains to avoid using public transport where possible. However, with more businesses set to open in the coming weeks, we are preparing for increased passenger numbers as more people begin to return to work and come into the city as some shops and cafes begin to open. As such Nottingham?s award winning public transport system is beginning to put in additional measures to make travelling around the city safer for those that have to use public transport.?This includes:
- Enhanced cleaning of vehicles
- Clear visual and audio communications on board
- Operating duplicated services where journeys are busy
- Asking passengers to consider wearing masks, sit two metres apart if possible and board one at a time.
Public transport has continued to operate, often on reduced timetables, throughout the lockdown. If you have to use public transport you can check the https://www.transportnottingham.com/coronavirus/website for details about bus and tram timetables.
if you do have to travel please ensure you continue to follow social distancing advice; avoid standing near other passengers, use hand sanitiser/wash your hands after touching surfaces and wear a face-covering where possible. Our transport operators, including NET, will open doors for you so you don?t have to touch them.

Clap for our carers
Thursday night?s weekly clap for our carers will be the last. It has been a joy to see and hear reports of thousands across the city pausing to applaud frontline workers since the start of the coronavirus outbreak. People have gathered in their gardens and at their front doors to create a visual and audible show of support. Tomorrow will mark the 10th weekly event which started back in March and I would urge people to join in for a final time to say thank you to the critical frontline workers across the city providing care to people every day.
